Meeting of Officers, Board Members & Committee Chairs

May 8, 2000 - Minutes

Attending: Sandy Steckel, Bob Haupt, Don & Jane Jesuale, Sam & Sarah James, Frank & Shirley Salas.

Six agenda items were discussed.

1. 2000 Lake Study - We decided to retain Dr. Helal to continue both parts of the study.

2. July Election - The nominating committee was selected - Sam James, Bob Haupt & Shirley Salas. We discussed possible nominees. Offices to be filled include President, board members & a government affairs committee representative.

3. May meeting - Due to several factors, the May general membership meeting will be held June 17. Sarah will ask Rodney Danielson to talk about snorkeling in Michigan Lakes He teaches scuba diving and snorkeling, often using Hackert Lake for classes. Bob will ask the Sheriff's marine deputy to talk to us about water safety.

4. July meeting - Besides the election we will try to get people from the DNR Fishery to talk to us about Michigan fishing and the possibilities of planting fish in Hackert Lake again.

5. We discussed items for the July Newsletter. There will be a report about the April potluck, including results of Dr. Helal's study as presented at that meeting. This will be a good opportunity to list a "lost & found" column in case somebody found the sign that is missing.

6. Membership & Treasury Reports - Jane reported that we currently have 49 paid member families. Sandy reported that we currently have $1,227.64 in our account.

7. Other things discussed - Should we consider some sort of a noise ordinance. Perhaps we should ask Larry, from the DNR, for more boating signs.
